Posted Thursday, January 30, 2020 - repost of a message by Mike Kortright's wife, Jackie:
To our friends and family, Michael Kortright passed away this morning. Michael died as he lived: on his own terms and loved dearly. To notify people here seems so impersonal but there are just so many wonderful people in his life that we want to make sure you all know. So thanks to everyone who has supported Michael. We will post shortly with his preferred community donation in lieu of flowers. More details will follow shortly.
We will close by sharing that Michael was joking with us to the very end and he was clear that while he knew we would be grieving he also expects laughter and a damn good celebration of life!
For planning purposes, the Celebration of Life is tentatively planned for Feb 17 at 11am at the First United Methodist Church of Loomis.
I only knew Mike in high school but never forgot him. Always had a big smile for everyone, upbeat and so friendly. Sounds like he stepped out of this world in the same way Rest in peace Mike.
Mike and I were good frends from Jr. High thru High School. Unfortunately like with many of my classmates we drifted apart after graduation. Many fond memories of playing basketball on my driveway. He was always a better player than me and always beat me soundly. RIP my friend
MIke and I palyed in "B" Basketbal and ended up being champs that year. He was a good guy and very positive. I will pray for you, your wife and family. RIP amigo...you will be missed.
I knew Michael both through school and church. I have fond memories; he was always very kind and upbeat. With my husband, I had the pleasure of seeing him on a plane from Sac to Ontario, CA when we lived in Sacramento for short time. It was so good to see him again. RIP Michael.
