Barbara "Bobbie" Keeney was a force to behold! Her laughter could be heard down hallways and into the classrooms @ SHS. I remember seeing Bobby when she worked at Bel Air and once recognizing me, she came from behind the counter and gave me the biggest hug ever. I'd just had my son (later in life), and she blurts out, "You have a grandson already?" I said, "No, this is my son!" Bobby, in her infinite wisdom and for the whole store to hear said, "It's a little late for you, isn't it?" I laughed and told her I still knew how to make babies and she roared back with laughter and hugged me again!
Now most of you may wonder why I would mention such an event... Well, Bobby was special in her own way; she was genuine, fearless, and open....and she appreciated getting back what she gave out! Remembering my encounter with her some 40+ years later, is a good thing, for it still brings a smile to my face! My sincere condolences to her family and to Kari Johansen, her dear friend of many years.
