I am very sorry to hear of Kathi's passing. She was very loyal to SHS classmates, enjoyed keeping up with everyone's news, and always wished us well as we celebrated our birthdays and anniversaries. Rest in peace, Kathi.
Praying for your loved ones in their (and our) loss, Kathi. I remember you well from our time at Sac High--always a big smile and an attitude that didn't tolerate anything but candor. Another big loss for our Sac High family. Gary and Joanne
Kathi passed away in 2023, not 2003, sorry for the typo.. Kathi was very well known by many classmates from elementary school through high school. She was very passionate with her involvement on our website and will be dearly missed, RIP Kathi
I first knew Kathi in 2nd Grade. We were friends from there until SHS graduation. She was always intelligent and lively. I enjoyed reconnecting with her a few years back on Facebook. She had a great sense of humor and a vivid point of view, whether you agreed with her or not. Even though we hadn’t actually seen each other since high school, I will miss her.
With great sadness of just learning of Kathi's passing. My brother, Bryan, and I were continuing friends after high school and visited her little ranch somewhere around Rocklin in the early 70's where she had a couple of horses. She soon moved out of the area I think to Oregon and then came back to CA in the 80's to live and work at a horse ranch in West Marin County. She later moved to Etna where I contacted her after the 50th reunion.
In the early 70's she worked at AT&T as a supervisor and helped secure stolen guitars from the band Brewer & Shipley. The band and John Cipollina (of Quicksilver Messenger Service) played with his other band Copperhead at a benefit for the Bear Tribe at UC Davis. Brewer & Shipley's guitars were stolen that night and another friend, Michael, talked to a guy in a Sac park who told him he had stolen them and was selling them. Michael had his name & phone number and told Bryan. Bryan called Kathi and she checked his address from the phone number. Bryan contacted members of the Bear Tribe he had meet at the concert and they called Ron Polte, the manager of Brewer & Shipley as well as Quicksilver & Copperhead. The next day, Bryan, Michael, Ron & members of the Bear Tribe went to the guys house and confronted him and he turned the guitars over to them. The Bear Tribe people prevented him from escaping. Ron Polte had called Brewer & Shipley the day before about a line on the guitars so they decided to delay their flight out of SF and got their guitars back later the next day when Ron drove them to Marin County where they lived.
